Cam Jordan joined the final episode of NFL Total Access recently and discussed Chase Young, Kirk Cousins and the Falcons, cold-weather tweet and Sean Payton returning the Superdome.

By John Hendrix - Saints News Network/SI

NFL Network said good to NFL Total Access on Friday night, as the final episode aired live with several guest appearances. One of those was Saints defensive end Cam Jordan, who is notorious for bringing the soundbites with him. His first question was around what it was going to be like to have another first-round pick on the line opposite of him, who is Chase Young.

"I think Chase Young is going to be great for our defense," Jordan said. "We already got Carl Granderson, who's stellar these last couple of years. I think, with growth, him being on the opposite side when he gets the right health, physically. He's going to be another piece we can add on. At some point in my mind, I'm spinning like it's going to be me, Chase and Carl Granderson on the field at the same time on a crucial third down and I'm probably going to have to go in the middle. I don't care. Whatever that takes. I'll line up and be that Za’Darius Smith over the middle roaming and trying to get active. I think it adds another weapon to our defense."

Young was signed in the offseason to a one-year, $13 million contract and it was announced that he was undergoing a neck procedure that the team knew about and that he'd miss part of training camp. The interview can be viewed starting at the 18:41 mark. ...

New Orleans Saints salary cap update after signing most of their draft picks

The New Orleans Saints signed most of their draft picks after rookie minicamp earlier in May, so where do they stand against the salary cap? And what could change in the weeks ahead? How much can they spend to improve the team over the summer? Those are a couple of different questions, so let’s work on answering them one at a time.

Right now, Kool-Aid McKinstry is the Saints’ only unsigned draft pick. That isn’t unusual for second round picks (we’ve discussed this before; it’s a side effect of the new collective bargaining agreement), and he’ll likely sign before training camp at a...

PFF analyst grades Saints' offseason so far with a strong B+

NFL offseason grades don’t carry much value, but they are a good measuring stick for finding how different teams (and their offseason strategies) are being perceived. So how do the New Orleans Saints stack up against the rest of the NFC South? Their road to the playoffs runs through the division, and it’s worth keeping up with them to see how each squad compares.

Pro Football Focus analyst Trevor Sikkema graded the Saints’ offseason thus far with a B-plus, which was better than the Atlanta Falcons (C-minus) and Carolina Panthers (C-plus), but a little behind the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (A)...

Mickey Loomis says Saints made several attempts to re-sign Andrus Peat

Every NFL team hopes to draft good prospects and develop them into great pros, and to see them play out their careers in the same uniform — so it’s disappointing when that doesn’t end up as planned. That’s the place the New Orleans Saints found themselves when Andrus Peat, a three-time Pro Bowl alternate left guard, left in free agency to sign with the Las Vegas Raiders.

General manager Mickey Loomis spoke about Peat’s situation at the Saints Hall of Fame golf tournament on Monday. He says the Saints tried to retain Peat once his contract expired, but the two sides couldn’t reach a deal...

Cameron Jordan says 'it feels like we have to' beat Sean Payton's Broncos

You’d be hard-pressed to find a player in the New Orleans Saints locker room that Sean Payton had more respect for than Cameron Jordan. The team’s ironman defensive captain rarely missed a snap in a decade with Payton working as his head coach, and Payton’s decision to walk away from the team was as hard on Jordan as anyone else in the building.

But that doesn’t mean Jordan is taking it easy in a prime time matchup with Payton and his new Denver Broncos squad. The last thing he wants to see is Payton leaving New Orleans with one more win, this time as the visitor. He spoke about the...

PFF picks Rashid Shaheed as Saints' breakout candidate for 2024

Good NFL teams draft well, but great ones find diamonds in the rough as undrafted free agents. And that’s how the New Orleans Saints found Rashid Shaheed. The former Weber State wideout was not drafted while recovering from a knee injury, so the Saints gave him a shot — and he’s done nothing but beat expectations while climbing the depth chart year over year.

He certainly has fans at Pro Football Focus. PFF’s Bradley Locker identified breakout candidates for all 16 teams in the NFC, and Shaheed was the clearest choice for the Saints. Here’s why expectations are high for him in 2024:

Chase Young on track in surgery rehab, participating at walkthrough practice

The New Orleans Saints are betting big on Chase Young. The former Ohio State Buckeye and No. 2 pick in the NFL draft signed a unique one-year deal with the Saints in free agency, and they’re putting a lot of hopes on him livening up their pass rush — once he’s cleared for a full workload after undergoing neck surgery earlier this offseason.

Young’s injury was not news to the Saints, who constructed his deal to where they’ll essentially get a refund on the 2025 salary cap for any games he misses in 2024. Just in case. But they’re hoping he’ll be back in action early this season, and with...

Ranking all 17 Saints games in 2024 from easiest to toughest

Which matchups look most challenging on the New Orleans Saints’ 2024 schedule? Everyone knows that their Monday night meeting with the Kansas City Chiefs is going to be daunting, but how heavily does Sean Payton’s presence matter into the perception of the Saints’ Thursday night game against a bad Denver Broncos team? And what about the NFC South rivalry games?

It’s true that the Saints have been given an easy (on paper) strength of schedule again in 2024, even if the soft matchups pitched to them last year still resulted in nearly as many wins as losses. But Dennis Allen must prove he can take advantage of those vulnerable opponents to stack up wins before taking on the more challenging matchups. He hasn’t shown yet that he can do that.

Here is our take. We ranked all 17 games from easiest to toughest:

It’s beginning to look like the New Orleans Saints won’t be trading Marshon Lattimore. Saints head coach Dennis Allen was asked about Lattimore’s status during media availability at the Saints Hall of Fame golf tournament on Monday, and he says he’s spoken recently with one of the team’s best players amid trade speculation.

“I had a conversation with him probably two or three weeks ago, I thought it was a positive conversation. And so, yeah, we’re moving forward,” Allen told reporters.

Lattimore’s contract was tweaked earlier this offseason to open a window for the Saints to trade him...

Before today, the conversation about Marshon Lattimore’s status with the team was in a grey area. Now with this news, the direction with Lattimore is clearer and fans can feel better about him being a Saint for at least another year. Although this news has provided answers...

13 Saints free agents remain unsigned as OTAs kick off

Organized team activities (OTAs) are kicking off around the NFL with 21 teams gathering for workouts on Monday, May 20, with the New Orleans Saints starting their program on Tuesday, May 21. But there’s a baker’s dozen of players from last year’s Saints team who are still looking for work as we move into the summer. Many of them will be hoping for a spot on training camp rosters around the league, and some of them may return to New Orleans, but there will be some players left on the outside looking in when camp starts in late July.

And there are some big names in the list. Starters like wide receiver Michael Thomas and free safety Marcus Maye are both still hanging around in free agency. So are backups the Saints valued highly like wideout Lynn Bowden, plus offensive linemen Max Garcia and Cameron Erving. There are also players working their way back from injuries like linebacker Andrew Dowell, running back Eno Benjamin, and offensive lineman Trai Turner.

Here’s a quick look at the list as OTAs begin around the NFL:
