Carr is not HIM (1 Viewer)

Good point. I stilL blame DA:p
Not saying that's wrong to do at all. Just pointing out that the posters here who want to boast over seemingly being right about Carr should be dunking over players on the team, including MT13, rather than the less knowledeable and football-wise people who post here on the board.

I think a lot of people will be shocked at how much better the offensive line will look with just better play calling and play design.

it could only help, certainly. Somebody else brought up blocking schemes - not something I know enough to comment directly about - but it makes me wonder how much of this is on Marrone. A lot has been invested in that line, and at times, individual players have received recognition and praise, but as a unit, they are playing poorly.

The TEs are RARELY on the field. We stay with 3-4 WR and Kamara and Hill on the field.

There is no creativity personal packages.

Carr can't throw to TEs in the redzone cuz pete has them on the sideline.

I find it interest that MT was criticized for 2 years and now he's the voice of reason. I respect him but he's not the guy I look to for a feel of the team.

With 2 backup linemen in the game, Carr threw the ball fifty times and Taysom Hill had one rushing attempt. The game was never a track meet. Just smarter playcalling and a run focused attack will help.

As far as blocking schemes and technique, I'm no expert but it is crazy how much Ram and McCoy have regressed. Like it doesn't make sense how bad they are. Ram's a three time All Pro team player and McCoy's gotten All Pro votes. They both are struggling mightily.

Off the field and with the handling of the injury stuff, yeah, he had been criticized. I was speaking in terms of his having been a two-time 1st team All Pro at the WR position. When a guy who has achieved what he has when he has been able to get onto the field has that type of reaction to the signing of a QB, it speaks quite loudly.

To be fair, the red zone has always been Carr's kryptonite comparatively.

For the Saints since 2006, Carr has so far been the worst red zone QB (by rating) for QB’s with at least 25 attempts (the number Carr has).

Here’s the list:

Winston 119.8
Bridgewater 113.4
Dalton 109.9
Brees 104.2
Hill 103.4
Siemian 96.8
Carr 90.8

For QB’s with at least 200 career red zone attempts since 1994 (furthest the splits go back), here is where some of those QB’s rank:

Brees - 3rd - 101.6
Winston - 16th - 98.3
Bridgewater - 20th - 97.1
Dalton - 24th - 96.0
Carr - 53rd - 89.7

I think he wanted stability at the position and threw Jameis under the bus last year. Just two years ago Cam was talking about what Winston brought to the position, so I don't put too much weight on those opinions.

Don't you think DA wanted stability at the position, too?

And from the way Michael Thomas talked about Carr, it was about a lot more than stability.

Since you brought up Cam Jordan...he, too, was in on the recruitment of Derek Carr to the Saints. I believe it was one of the super rare times that one of the players he was recruiting actually signed with the Saints.

The days of our quarterback getting the best out of lessor talent are over. This guy couldn’t get his guys up if he force fed them viagra.

The guy has clean pockets or time to throw and still throws passes to the ghost of Danny Abramowitz.

Carr is an overpriced underperforming dud, and the way this team is constructed we are a long long way from seeing the playoffs.

I look forward to this thread being bumped when we make the playoffs.
Carr may not be the biggest problem, but he's definitely one of the biggest problems.
