In a conversation with Rich Eisen, New Orleans Saints head coach Dennis Allen said he expects fans to see a whole new offense in the the Big Easy, outlining two crucial changes for the 2024 NFL season.

By Ross Jackson - Saints News Network | SI

The wide zone offense has made its way to the bayou and anticipations are high for what to expect from the New Orleans Saints in 2024. On Thursday, Saints head coach Dennis Allen joined the Rich Eisen show to discuss a variety of topics around the team, providing some excellent insight. One of the biggest takeaways came from Eisen asking Allen about how different the Saints offense will look to fans relative to waht they have seen from the team in the past.

"I think probably significantly different," Allen said. "We've been in a lot of what we call '11 personnel.' (Three wide receivers, one tight end in the game.) And I think we're probably going to see a lot more two tight ends in the game. We're going to see a little bit more fullback utilized in the game."

Of course, that does not mean a complete venture away from what has worked for the team in the past. Allen said that they will still do some traditional dropback passing and three-receiver sets. But the addition of offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak is clearly expected to have an impact. ...

Saints pick yet another cornerback in this 2025 mock draft

Just how many cornerbacks do the New Orleans Saints need? The team selected Alabama’s Kool-Aid McKinstry in the second round of the 2024 draft, but Doug Farrar’s latest 2025 mock draft at Touchdown Wire has them adding another corner next offseason.

Johnson has NFL size at 6-foot-2 and 202 pounds, and he was arguably the best player on a Michigan team that saw 13 Wolverines drafted in April. He’ll be a hot commodity in next year’s draft. And while the Saints run deep at cornerback right now, that might not be the case in 2025.

Starting corner Paulson Adebo will be a free agent in the...

New Orleans Saints game previews: Week 11 vs. Cleveland Browns

It’s been a while since the Cleveland Browns visited the New Orleans Saints at the Caesars Superdome. Of the 46 Saints players who were active for that last meeting in 2018, only seven remain on the roster in 2024.

And this game is all that stands between the Saints and a much-needed breather during their Week 12 bye. But there’s the catch — the Browns will be well-rested for this game, having enjoyed their own bye week before making the trip down to New Orleans.

The Saints have won each of their last two games against the Browns, including the 2018 matchup we mentioned earlier and a...

Chris Olave hasn't gotten enough credit in PFF's wide receiver rankings

How is Chris Olave still underrated? The New Orleans Saints wide receiver roared into the NFL with back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons, but he’s having trouble getting respect even from those in the know at Pro Football Focus.

PFF’s Sam Monson shared his rankings for the top 32 receivers going into 2024, and they’re a mess. It’s bad enough that Olave was ranked behind players who haven’t even run a route in the NFL, with rookies like Malik Nabers (No. 25) and Marvin Harrison Jr. (No. 21) both ahead of him. But Olave is also ranked behind wideouts who have been in the league as long as him...

ESPN's FPI gives Saints less than 1% chance to win Super Bowl LIX

We’re saying there’s a chance. Well, ESPN is saying that — ESPN’s Football Power Index (FPI) gave the New Orleans Saints a 0.4% chance of winning Super Bowl LIX, which will be played at the Caesars Superdome in February.

Believe it or not, those aren’t the worst odds around the league. Four teams were given zero chances of bringing home a title, including the division-rival Carolina Panthers. But the Saints did rank 10th-worst in FPI’s forecast, which doesn’t inspire much confidence. That’s a direct reflection of the lack of success they’ve found since Drew Brees retired back in 2021...

ESPN ranks Saints' wide receiver corps low among NFL's 32 teams

ESPN ranked the New Orleans Saints’ wide receiver corps low among the NFL’s 32 teams. They have room for one more after moving on from Michael Thomas and most of the players who competed for roster spots last summer — whether that means a proven veteran like Hunter Renfrow or another free agent, they should look for another experienced player to add to the rotation.

Chris Olave and Rashid Shaheed are entering Year 3. A.T. Perry has a great opportunity after flashing during his rookie year. After that, it’s a mix of unproven (and, for the most part, undrafted) rookies and journeymen free agents. It would be easy to understand the Saints bringing someone else in to compete at training camp.

Here’s where ESPN’s Mike Clay

New Orleans Saints game previews: Week 9 at Carolina Panthers

We’re almost to the back half of the New Orleans Saints’ 2024 schedule — which starts with a rematch against their Week 1 opponent, the division-rival Carolina Panthers. And this game should be much more challenging than that season opener.

Any hiccups and hurdles slowing down Bryce Young should be well behind the young quarterback once November rolls around. The Panthers are introducing their third head coach in three years after David Tepper bought the team, having fired Matt Rhule and Frank Reich before turning to Dave Canales. Canales has a reputation as someone who can get the most...

New Orleans Saints game previews: Week 10 vs. Atlanta Falcons

The bye week is almost in sight for the New Orleans Saints — or at least it will be, going into a two-game homestand in November. After traveling from coast to coast for matchups with the Los Angeles Chargers (on Oct. 27) and Carolina Panthers (on Nov. 3), the Saints will return home for a pivotal rematch with their oldest rivals.

Week 10 sees the Saints host the Atlanta Falcons at the Caesars Superdome. The Saints will have already made the trip to Atlanta in Week 4, so this could be an opportunity for payback or, hopefully, a chance to run up the score. For their part, the Falcons will...

PFF ranks the Saints' roster among NFL's bottom-10 depth charts

Is there a 9-win team drawing more criticism than the New Orleans Saints are right now? Pro Football Focus ranked all 32 rosters from best to worst, and the Saints didn’t just fall inside the back half of the league — they were all the way down at No. 24, between the 8-win Las Vegas Raiders and 6-win Tennessee Titans. That suggests they were less than impressed by the Derek Carr-led Saints.

PFF analysts Jim Wyman and Dalton Wasserman identified the Saints’ offensive line as their biggest vulnerability, expressing pessimism that 2021 first-round pick Trevor Penning can be relied on even...

The New Orleans Saints have officially signed CB Kool-Aid McKinstry to a 4-year deal.

McKinstry was drafted by the Saints in the 2nd round (41st overall) of this year’s NFL Draft. In his three seasons at Alabama, he recorded 92 tackles (61 solo), 2 interceptions and 25 passes defended. In his two seasons (2022-23) as Alabama’s primary punt returner, he returned 35 punts for 418 yards (11.9 avg.)

McKinstry was named first-team All-American and All-SEC selection, and he was a semifinalist for the Thorpe Award. In 2022, McKinstry was a second-team All-American at cornerback and punt...

Kool-Aid McKinstry signing may have set a new precedent for Saints

This was a bit of a surprise. The New Orleans Saints announced Friday that second-round draft pick Kool-Aid McKinstry had signed his rookie contract, meaning all seven picks from their 2024 draft class had put pens to paper.

But that’s not all. This was the soonest a Saints second round pick had signed their contract under the new collective bargaining agreement, which came into effect in 2021. While that CBA did standardize rookie salaries and tie contract values to draft slots, there was still some wriggle-room left for players’ agents and teams’ front offices to negotiate things like...

METAIRIE, La. — The New Orleans Saints announced that second-round draft pick Kool-Aid McKinstry has signed a 4-year contract on Friday.

According to team officials, the 41st overall selection out of Alabama is the final player of the team's seven-man NFL Draft class to sign.

In three seasons at cornerback for the Crimson Tide, McKinstry posted 92 tackles (61 solo), two interceptions and 25 passes defended.

Shortly after McKinstry was selected, the Kraft Heinz-owned Kool-Aid brand announced it's launching a new flavor honoring him.

Following his selection as the 41st overall pick...

A lot of fans are excited about the New Orleans Saints picking former South Carolina and Oklahoma quarterback Spencer Rattler in the fifth round of this year’s NFL draft, but what’s the vision for him? Is Rattler really going to push Derek Carr for the starting job, as some fans and even a few media analysts have stumped for?

That’s a question Saints head coach Dennis Allen addressed during an appearance on the Rich Eisen Show. Rattler is here to compete just like the other 90 players in the building, but what roster spot he’s competing for is up to him. He’ll have to earn his...

Saints sign second-round draft pick Kool-Aid McKinstry

Good on both sides moving quickly here. KPRC2’s Aaron Wilson reports that the New Orleans Saints have signed second-round draft pick Kool-Aid McKinstry. This means the Saints’ entire 2024 draft class is under contract almost two months before training camp starts in late July. The roster is officially at its 91-man capacity, including the former Alabama cornerback.

It’s a bit of a surprise. Each of the Saints’ last three second-round picks (Isaiah Foskey, Alontae Taylor, and Pete Werner) didn’t sign their contracts until about a week before camp opened. Second rounders have become a point...
