Junior Galette - what a guy! (1 Viewer)

I get it, but it still means he is either speeding through school zones or speeding through red traffic lights. Let's be honest here. Anyone who racks up 113 unpaid traffic cam tickets is not going a couple of mph over the limit. He's clearly driving like a reckless a-hole. I hope he doesn't injure someone.
Let them put a cop out there to stop his *** like it's supposed to be...

How do we know if it was Galette who was driving?

Man, I got a ticket for going 3 miles over the school zone limit less than a minute before it went to the regular speed limit. And they said I couldn't contest it.

Screw those cameras, whoever decided to implement them, whoever invented them, and everyone they love...
3mph may be within the margin of error for your speedometer.

And whoever told you that something is "uncontestable" is depriving you of your rights. It's not just your right, but your DUTY to question things they say aren't questionable.

Not just the MPH possibly being within the margin of error, it was after 3:29 but before 3:30. So many variables and they basically said that I was SOL because it was on the camera. If I knew then what I know now...

That's some mental gymnastics right there.
That's the whole issue with those cameras, the car owner is ticketed, not the driver... What if you let someone barrow your car, and they have a camera violation? Why should the owner be ticketed?

Chances are, I'm sure it was Galette who was driving with those violations, but how do you know? That's why those cameras are a scam... Jefferson Parish had them, and they got rid of them because they were proven to be BS...

When my wife got one on State Street, I threw it in the trash.

For once I side with Galette.

**** them cameras. It's straight theft.
The South Dakota Supreme Court ruled that cameras cannot be the sole evidence for a conviction. It was a good ruling. The individual has a right to cross examine the accuser not only at trial, but at arrest. Not to mention, cameras do not take in account the individual circumstances. Also, cameras as the sole evidence is shakey at best, and is a slap in the face of the presumtion of innocence. I could go on and on, but you can look up the ruling yourself if you are interested.

As I already stated, I'm not saying you guys are wrong about the cameras, but some of you seem to be justifying Gallete's behavior out of blind hate for the traffic cam system. That's the part I find baffling considering what we know about this scumbag.

I believe most of that is tongue-in-cheek. I think everyone realizes that with 113 tickets many of them are correct and he is a giant arse. And, moreover that he is a terrible person. I think the comments about taking Galette's side are essentially jokes that some are taking too seriously.

I'm not giving that piece of work a pass, I just think those cameras are a scam. I wouldn't justify anything that dude does.

I agree with Galette. It is pretty sad when penalty fees for traffic violations and other non-violent crimes exist as an intended, significant portion of city planning and budgeting. Tells you a lot about how these laws are crafted and the real intention behind them. All the investments into cameras and other equipment designated as "safegaurds" aren't investments into safety, but are actually just business investments made by our own justice system to extract more money from people already paying taxes. If the intention is to keep people safe by reducing speeds, why not invest in governing speed limits at the vehicle manufacturing level?

It's a scam and racket and a shake-down.

No it doesn't it just means that the camera flashed and they sent him a ticket. Because I received two in 2020, one for speeding through a school zone (when schools were closed) and one that said I failed to stop before turning right on red. I threw them both away and they are no where on my record. They aren't legal because they are being ran by a private company. My ticket was addressed from Seattle and I was to pay a company in Phoenix, Az.

Whether or not they are legal is beside the point. You gave me 2 instances. The article is talking about 113 instances. You aren't going to convince me that all those instances were related to some diabolical scheme from an out-of-state private company. Especially when Galette is proven to have a history of this type of behavior.

I was once part of a funeral procession that had two policemen on motorcycles escorting us to the cemetary. One held up traffic at a stoplight and the procession traveled through the intersection. Well, it was an intersection with traffic cameras. The entire procession received tickets in the mail about a month later. Everyone.

The tickets were disputed by an attorney who was part of the procession and all tickets were dismissed. So, when it says on the ticket that the infraction was reviewed prior to the mailing, I am very skeptical.

1000000% a money grab.
