Basis of his offensive philosophy

“We just want to be grounded and run the football. We want to have an identify of ‘We can run the football against 8-man fronts.’ That’s something we’re going to stress to guys early this offseason. Building our play actions, moving the pocket off of that, being a real good team on first and second down. We’re dialed in on that in Phase 1 and Phase 2.”

Really really like his approach. Run the ball, get good at the basics and grow from there. He knows what he wants to do and believes in it.

Between this interview and drafting Fuaga, this team is gonna run the ball.

Run the football and work our play ACTIONS.

We are going to throw the ball out of heavy run packages and play action, we will have the defense on skates on bootlegs as he says we will move the pocket based off our play action game.

This sounds exactly like what the Saints attempted back in 2005....strip down Mike McCarthy's Westcoast Offense playbook down to only a few pages, control the game with time of possession and hit play action passes. Only problem is that the defense wasn't strong enough to hold on to any kind of lead.

There was that other problem in 2005 too, and I’m not referring to Mike Sheppard taking over OC duties after McCarthy wasn’t retained.

This screams Carl Smith; which was the worst offensive system we ever ran.

Hopefully its more creative than just I-FORM every play
