The best quarterback and arguably best player to ever put on the black and gold has been inducted into the Saints Hall of Fame.

The New Orleans Saints Hall of Fame is adding a major player to its longstanding legacy. Drew Brees, who was arguably the franchise's biggest addition in history, has been inducted for the 2024 class. The formal announcement was made on Thursday afternoon at a special press conference from the team's practice facility in Metairie.

Brees was inducted into the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame Class of 2024 back in September 2023. Following his retirement after the 2020 season, he was honored the following season at halftime during the late November Bills-Saints game in the Superdome.

Dennis Allen outlines the vision for Spencer Rattler's rookie year

A lot of fans are excited about the New Orleans Saints picking former South Carolina and Oklahoma quarterback Spencer Rattler in the fifth round of this year’s NFL draft, but what’s the vision for him? Is Rattler really going to push Derek Carr for the starting job, as some fans and even a few media analysts have stumped for?

That’s a question Saints head coach Dennis Allen addressed during an appearance on the Rich Eisen Show. Rattler is here to compete just like the other 90 players in the building, but what roster spot he’s competing for is up to him. He’ll have to earn his...

Saints sign second-round draft pick Kool-Aid McKinstry

Good on both sides moving quickly here. KPRC2’s Aaron Wilson reports that the New Orleans Saints have signed second-round draft pick Kool-Aid McKinstry. This means the Saints’ entire 2024 draft class is under contract almost two months before training camp starts in late July. The roster is officially at its 91-man capacity, including the former Alabama cornerback.

It’s a bit of a surprise. Each of the Saints’ last three second-round picks (Isaiah Foskey, Alontae Taylor, and Pete Werner) didn’t sign their contracts until about a week before camp opened. Second rounders have become a point...

New Orleans Saints QB Derek Carr and LB Demario Davis are teaming up off the field for “A Night of Worship” at the Mahalia Jackson Theater in New Orleans. The free event will take place on Tuesday, June 11th and be led by legendary gospel singer CeCe Winans and singer-songwriter Tauren Wells.

In an interview with the Saints’ John DeShazier, Davis said that idea for this event came from he and Carr’s relationship and that they are both men of faith. Their relationship with the Lord is everything and they really connect on that topic. Last year during the season, Davis and Carr started...

This 'disappointing' preseason forecast nailed Derek Carr's final passing stats

Opposing defenses weren’t the only ones who found the New Orleans Saints to be too predictable last year. We described the predictions for Derek Carr’s final stats from Bleacher Report as disappointing, but B/R’s Alex Kay had it down almost perfectly. And as we said at the time, this performance from Carr was a disappointment. We had higher expectations for him.

Still, here’s a hat tip to Kay for getting it right. Here are Kay’s predictions compared to the numbers Carr finished with in 2023 in parentheses:

So Kay had Carr’s passing numbers down almost perfectly, though they overestimated...

Saints' offensive line experiencing a youth movement in 2024

The New Orleans Saints offensive line is going through a youth movement. By their scheme, it is necessary. Trevor Penning highlighted Klint Kubiak’s wide zone scheme for utilizing the athleticism of the offensive line. That change of direction has also coincided with the unit getting much younger. Not every change can be tied scheme, but it does feel like an intentional shift.

Erik McCoy and Cesar Ruiz are the only returning starters from last season. Trevor Penning is excluded because he spent most of the season on the bench. The offensive line’s average age drops from 28.2 to 24.6 years...

Four things we have learned at OTAs so far

The New Orleans Saints are just into their 2nd week of OTA’s and we have already gotten a good bit of information in that short time frame. Let’s take a look at some of the things we have learned the past two weeks.

It’s easy to overreact to OTA performances, especially if the player is a rookie. However, it should be noted that rookie quarterback Spencer Rattler has experienced some growing pains during his first month as a Saint, reportedly throwing multiple interceptions and missed passes. According to NOF.com’s Nick Underhill and Mike Triplett, backup QB Jake Haener has the edge over...

Here's how much salary cap space the Saints will save after June 1

  • News source: John Sigler

Early this offseason, the New Orleans Saints designed Michael Thomas and Jameis Winston as post-June 1 cuts, which is a mechanism that allows teams to release up to players (making them free agents) while spreading out the salary cap costs over this year and the next. The catch is that those savings won’t be felt until after June 1.

So with that date rapidly approaching, here’s how much those moves will save the Saints against the salary cap. Winston, who signed with the Cleveland Browns early in free agency, will still count against the cap by $3.38 million in 2024 and $7.3 million in...

Looks like another former New Orleans Saints player has become a part of their personnel. Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football reported that that former Saints tight end Josh Hill has joined the team's scouting department.

Hill was one of the former players attending Drew Brees’ Saints Hall of Fame induction where we got the news of this hire. As stated above, the plan for Hill is to work as an advanced scout to start before possibly working his way up into other roles.

He will now be added to a list of multiple former Saints that have ventured their way onto the team's staff...

Derek Carr ranked as the 5th-worst starting quarterback in the NFC

Yikes. Derek Carr has a lot of work to do in changing his reputation around the NFL — he’s consistently landing in the 20’s with analysts ranking the league’s starting quarterbacks after the 2024 draft. The New Orleans Saints starter didn’t exactly impress many viewers in his first season with the team.

He didn’t impress the Saints, either, which is why they completely overhauled the coaching staff supporting him. Klint Kubiak has replaced Pete Carmichael as offensive coordinator with Andrew Janocko taking over as the quarterbacks coach while other positions were flipped, too. But all of...

Saints avoid Hard Knocks, awarded to Bears

The NFL announced on Thursday they have selected the Chicago Bears to be featured as this year's team for Hard Knocks.

The New Orleans Saints were among the finalists to be featured, but the NFL elected to go with a resurging Bears team that obtained first-overall pick Caleb Williams in the 2024 draft.

Many teams prefer not to be a part of Hard Knocks as it can be seen as a distraction for teams trying to compete. To qualify for Hard Knocks, a team must not have a first-year head coach, have been featured in the past eight years, or will be featured on the in-season Hard Knocks show...
