Davenport was the 14th overall selection in the first round of the NFL Draft out of Texas-San Antonio. Leonard was the Saints’ fourth round draft choice (127th overall) out of Florida State. He opened a total of 19 games out of 37 games played. In 2017, he started all 13 contests at right tackle and helped Seminoles running back Cam Akers break the program’s freshman rushing yardage record (1,024 yards).

Our New Orleans Saints game previews continue with a trip to Georgia for the first showdown against the Kirk Cousins-led Atlanta Falcons. Does the addition of Cousins make the Falcons as good as some believe? This will be the Saints first opportunity to dispel the narrative.

Not only will the Falcons add a new quarterback, Raheem Morris is also taking over as head coach from Arthur Smith. Smith’s final experience was being blown out by the Saints and getting mad at Dennis Allen about it. Morris comes over from the Los Angeles Rams with a defensive pedigree. He developed the Rams into an...

An early-season matchup against the best player in the world, Patrick Mahomes, in front of a nationwide audience. Doesn’t get any better than this.

Coming into the 2024 season, Kansas City returns a lot of the members of their Super Bowl team except for a few areas where there’s a bit of turnover. The most notable spot is on the defensive side of the ball where the team agreed to a trade with the...

It’s tough to summarize the time Drew Brees spent with the New Orleans Saints as anything but transformative. Brees developed into a quarterback worthy of the Pro Football Hall of Fame during his 15 years in New Orleans, but his career with the team also raised the Saints’ standing from a laughingstock to a Super Bowl contender.

On Thursday, Brees was announced as an inductee for the Saints Hall of Fame, and he used that opportunity to reflect on the unique road that brought him here. Brees and his family have moved around a bit in retirement, splitting time between Hawaii, California...

The New Orleans Saints will return home in Week 3 for a matchup with the Philadelphia Eagles at the Caesars Superdome on Sept. 29, fresh off a road trip to face one of the Eagles’ biggest NFC East rivals — the Dallas Cowboys. This is another game against a 2023 playoff team, so it’ll be both a challenge for the Saints to rise to as well as a major opportunity to make a statement.

New Orleans won their last game against Philadelphia, beating the Gardner Minshew-led Eagles 20-10; but the Saints went home with a loss in each of the two previous meetings when Jalen Hurts was under center. The...

Another former New Orleans Saints player joined the team’s staff. Longtime tight end Josh Hill was recently hired by the team to work in the teams pro scouting department. It was reported by NewOrleans.Football’s Nick Underhill that the plan is for Hill to initially work as an advanced scout, studying tape for future opponents and helping to identify tendencies to exploit on game days.

This wouldn’t be the first time that a former player has returned to the facility to join the staff. We’ve seen guys like Zach Strief, Jahri Evans and Sterling Moore all make their way back down to add...

New Orleans Saints legend Drew Brees had a tumultuous early career in the NFL, specifically at the end of his tenure with the then-San Diego Chargers, when he tore his labrum and dislocated his shoulder in his throwing arm.

This was ultimately what led to him becoming a free agent and being available for the Saints, however, it was also what slowed him down later in his career. Brees spoke with the media during a press conference for his Saints Hall of Fame selection, admitting that he would have played another three years in the NFL.

Injury on top of the general wear and tear of a...

Two decades in the NFL takes a toll. If Drew Brees had his way, he would have continued playing quarterback for the New Orleans Saints for three more years after his final season ended back in 2020. Brees reflected on his career Thursday when the Saints announced that he had been selected for the team’s Hall of Fame.

Injuries deteriorated Brees’ throwing arm so badly that he doesn’t use it when playing catch with his kids in retirement, instead throwing left-handed. Had his arm held up he would have kept playing until he was 44 years old. He even considered a comeback in 2021.

“Very,”...

Our New Orleans Saints game previews continue with Week 2 of the 2024 regular season, which brings a huge test against the Dallas Cowboys. Can the Saints upset a Super Bowl contender? Or are the Cowboys really just pretenders? Mike McCarthy’s team has yet to get over the hump in January, but Dennis Allen’s squad hasn’t even gotten that far.

Either way, they’re a challenging opponent. Dallas has a better record at home (.778) than anyone else in the NFL since 2021, including the playoffs. They’ve made the playoffs in each of the last three years. It would mean a lot for the Saints to...

Drew Brees was officially selected for the New Orleans Saints’ team Hall of Fame on Thursday, in what was likely the easiest decision the voters have ever had in front of them. He was also named Most Valuable Player in the Saints’ Super Bowl XLIV victory.
